Restorative questions
One way restorative practices is set apart from punitive approaches is the questions asked after someone has harmed someone else or a community. In restorative practices, we ask questions such as:
- What happened?
- Who was harmed or affected and how?
- What are your/their needs?
- What were you thinking at the time?
- What have you thought about since?
- What would you like to happen next?
- What feelings and needs are still with you?
- What needs to happen to make things as right as possible?
